Here are my questions, sorry to the readers for the delay.
Feel free to share your likes, dislikes, and suggestions to better my questions!
Thanks!
1. How long as social media existed?
2. Has social media existed without technology?
3. Can a media experience be duplicated?
4. How has technology revolutionized the mourning process?
5. What deems new media as "new"?
6. Has political history influenced the technological future?

month long questions
I will be thinking of my month long questions while basking away in the sun on the beach. Hopefully, my mind will think of some mind boggling month long question AND answers for me to come back and present.
Be on the look out for said questions!!!

Ok this is media-ish slash a topic we could discuss possibly in class....i was watching tv a few days ago and saw a commercial for a car that PARALLEL parks itself?!?!
I mean, who knows where cars are headed if they are beginning to control their own actions.

bloggggggggg
I'll be honest it's hard for me to blog for this class, or for any class.
I also get quite up in the class discussion and therefore forget to blog.
But i did appreciate this past weeks discussion while Steve cut many books and threw the shreds around lol.
I would like to advise whoever reads this to check out EVAN ROBERTS blog....he nicely distracted me during this past class to be "creative" with the books materials. :)
I am a little nervous about these month long questions, its like taking me a month to THINK of a question let alone answer it??? Maybe that's normal?

............just blog about something
well as most new media students, given a blog assignment with no direction can be complicated and result in nothing but rambling. So i guess....let the fun begin!!!
I have to say during the week I'm annoyed, stressed, and fill my thoughts with worrys and my to do list until Thursday evening.
Where i strangle ponder the thoughts of Steve or other classmates.
I just seem to get swept up in the conversation and really think about what Steve
is asking or suggesting of us. Its weird. It sort of relieves the stress of my week and weekend ahead of me. So i have enjoyed it. And will continue to enjoy mt thursdays of 2 hours and 40 minutes of stress relieving media topic conversing.

my "smart" blog
Its hard to say what could become "smart" nowadays.
I mean its like you walk down the street and all of a sudden the street signs are speaking to me on Mass Ave and weird dancing street icon people........
but i have to admit i kind of love it.
I think its invigorating to see how far human kind can go with making things "smart". I will say though at the same time, i am still a little hesitant for things to become smart that should just stay .... well whatever the opposite of smart is.
For example, i love snail mail and newspaper. I think its traditional, has a lot of meaning when you receive something in the mail. I get way more excited with mail than a facebook message, text message, or email. It just shows more effort went into it, and you can physically display or save that item.
It is strange to me that in class when Steve is teaching, he comes up with brilliant
( at least in my opinion) ideas for ways to make something "smart". It takes me like hours to come up with an example. I may just be a traditional person at heart.
My most favorite smart item would probably be the fact that my new used car i just bought has the capabilities for me to use my cell phone via bluetooth capabilities. I simply turn the bluetooth on, on my phone and the car syncs with my phone. I can make and receive calls by pressing a button on my steering wheel. It makes things a loooooot easier and safer. Also, the car comes with a keyless entry. I think this qualifies under the "smart" category. I dont need a key to start the car or to open the doors. It's a blessing. But i must remember to not get caught up in the "smart" phenomenon because with technology, it can go wrong and cause more problems than you started with.
bitter sweet.

But what is my mission?!!?!
My Mission
Although, I am a graduate student, and should already know exactly what I want to do, I don’t. I have a few “mission ideas” in mind and plan to narrow down the official mission by the time I complete the graduate program.
A few of the mission ideas I have include becoming a professor, working at a medium to large sized company, or working hands on in the media industry. I am currently in the PFF (preparing future faculty) program and I am getting actual experience in the field of teaching. I am responsible for teaching and aiding one of Beth Lykins classes. Within this experience I hope to finalize my choice of pursuing a teaching position or just focus on working for a company.
As far as company experience goes, I’ve work for a company from home, working to earn just school credit, working for low and for high pay, working in my own cubicle, working in basically a closet with 3 others. I’ve also worked in freelance solo. All of these positions offered separate expressions of media while maintaining similar experiences when compared to a teaching environment.
While finding my “mission” can be very complicated, I find that a helpful step in this process should be determining what I don’t want to do. I know I do not want to do freelance full-time as a career. The hours can be beneficial, and the advantage of working from home. But as a freelancer, it’s hard to determine if the business is going to keep up steadily month-to-month. It’s far too hard to depend on freelance to keep bills paid and stress as little as possible. I have had fun and a huge learning experience working as a freelance photographer for events such as weddings, band promotions, baby announcements, and engagement photos. Although, I am not opposed to do some freelance work on the side, as long as it is not my full-time career.
In the realm of the new media corporate world, I have desires to work at large companies like Disney, Paramount Pictures, or Apple I have to keep in mind the element of work ethic that is expected at certain type of companies. In class, a student said something about “drinking the kool-aid” in reference to Jim Jones. I had never heard that story or that reference before but I have had some second thoughts about working at such a company now that I’ve had someone from that industry tell me their experiences. I haven’t completely ruled it out yet, but at leas I have an idea of what to expect before going in head first into a large corporate company.
Within my desire to work at a company I’m interested in specifically being the “go to girl”, in other words I want to be in a leadership positions. I would like to lead, teach, and help others along the way. Like I referenced before the movie “What Women Want” where Helen Hunt is the leader and is responsible for a team and the graphics and advertising for the company. That is a mission that I would find challenging, interesting, and really give me the benefit of learning about the industry at the same time.
Though it’s impossible for myself to decide over night what my mission is exactly. My belief in God assures me that he does have something special and particular that he wants to use me for predominantly in the field of media. I’ve just yet to figure that out. I am along for the ride and will learn through this class, others feedback, and experiences where exactly I belong.

SCAVVY HUNT
New Media is…..the implementation of creativity in some form of medium, rather it be technology, tangible, and intangible.
Innovative is……hard to define, but in my own understanding I think it is anything that was created from the idea of another idea.
The device i chose was a surprise to myself, but i liked it because its so simply innovative...take a book and electroni-size it.
BUT i also enjoy the fact that initially it seems amazing but after reading a website about this products negative points....eh.......awkward how un-innovative it is.
http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/02/25/10-reasons-to-buy-a-kindle-2-and-10-reasons-not-to/
there is the link, some points include that it's bottom heavy, hard to skim through, battery powered, etc.
* Who did it? (creator or company) AMAZONG
* How did they do it? (software, equipment, materials, etc.) Couldn't find much information on this, i know it was first the Kindle 1, and is now Kindle 2. Contains electronic screen, buttons, the whole spheal.
* For whom did they do it? (target audience or client)Mainly traveleres, business men & women, and readers of course.
* How might you be able to use what you learned about this innovative use of new media to help you when doing your final project?
I have already completed my final project but DEFINITELY made me learn that even if something "seems" to be a brilliant idea, you'll never know until you follow through with actually completing the project and getting some user interaction and moving on from there.

Cheek Hen
today's class was awesome. i am SO glad Beth came. her strength and positive attitude are seriously inspiring.
I miss Mary Ellen
loved the chicken.
I find it funny, today was my "YES" day. I took the "YES MAN" idea and used it all the day long and the outcome was:
I said yes to punching someone
I said yes to pizza
I said yes to breadsticks
I said yes to a free coca cola
I said yes to more I'm sure, I just cant remember....
I was shortly had an attempt to be taken advantage of later tonight by my best friend...damn her. lol.
enjoy the video/pictures added of our fun filled/sir fluffy butt/chicken/Beth day (this only took about 3 hours to make the video/render/upload to here and it not work/then upload to youtube)
yay

can i just say, i truly wish this class was like a "forever" class that you had to take for the rest of time.

YES. YES. YES. YES.
WHAT THE BLEEP IS THIS?!
My project consists of the play off of the new recent movie "YES MAN".
Jim Carrey is one of my most favorite actors, and he did an awesome job in this movie.
It's closely based on decisions and how they effect our lives. Each decision effects our lives in separate ways, and it's effects are shown well in this movie.
IF the class wants, i got the DVD in my Easter basket (yes my Easter basket) and we can watch it in class if we were to have time, or maybe a few clips.
I have included the trailer to this blog, and for my project:
I have designated a day of "YES" in which I say YES to any ethical/moral requests.
I'll let you know how the decisions effect my day. I'm not telling you what day because I don't want to be harassed by the class lol :)

what is New Media?
Quite frankly, 3:00-5:40 is entirely too long to discuss such a phrase.
I was in class today but had entirely too much to complete homework wise seeing as how I am graduating in two and a half weeks so I left about an hour into class, to complete such things.
I hope and pray Mary Ellen is feelin better and Beth is holdin up ok.

HEY!!!!!! da da da dadaaadaaaaa (said by crackhead sweet guy at TB)
today's class was sweet.
i truly was on the verge of melancholy and sadness from person things, and seeing Mary Ellen literally brightened up my day, week, month, mood. everything.
i dont mean to sound obsessed but i am. i hope Heaven is filled with people who have the same lively souls that she possesses.
another day brightener; the birthday boy himself bought my taco bell?
how nice is that.
especially when im freaking out over finances and wondering how i was going to eat dinner.

idea on mirrrrror
my idea on my mirror was to put the word "seat belt"
this idea came from the word law and will work as a reminder for me to always wear mine and if guests are in my car, to assure their safety too.
sounds cheesy but lets not cut our lives short people.

day three of three (3/16/09)
LAW.
being in South Carolina, i heard on the news a story about two different circumstances where two car wrecks caused fatality because the drivers didn't wear their seat belts.
i thought of "law". i mean it is a law to wear your seat belt and honestly HOW HARD IS IT to put on a seat belt.
ironically the same day my cousin had a reaction to low blood pressure and fainted while driving and landed in a ditch going very slow but had her seat belt on.
thank god.
who knows what could've happened.
law=seat belt.
how hard is it.

day two of three (3/15/09)
LAW.
today law was on my mind in the academic sense...
just walking into the law building seems to be intimidating, most law students are very intelligent, determined, and focused.
I like to think i just as academically aware in my academics as well, but law has a more intimidating feeling.
